How I meet Cliff Meidl

As a teenager at Marina Del Rey outrigger Canoe Club we raced in the 18 and Under division. At first we were in he habit of winning all the races. Not one else had a full six man team under 18 on a regular basis . Well that is when I first meet Cliff Meidl, and Josh Crayton. The boys form Lanakila came out and with in a few races had us dig and deep and trying to hold on. We still got second and some first but we were no longer the only fast 18 under team on the coast.
As adult paddling surf ski and a little K1 mixed in with Outrigger canoe and some swimming. I meet up with Cliff again, he was now training for the olympics in K1 and only a daily basis was a mentor to me as well as other local paddler from the los angles area.
Recently I had  got to film Clifff Meidl, and Rami Zur paddling K1 in newport harbor. At nearly 40 Cliff still has tremendous strength and speed. Cliff paddles with a smooth rhythmic style that is pleasing to watch and an education for the novice canoe kayak enthusiast. While Zur shows his explosive sprint speed. This Video was shot 2 days Prior to USCKT team trials

Latter that day I  talked with Cliff about the disabled paddlers and outrigger canoe, here is what he had to say.
